Victor Hugo's House

Victor Hugo was a French poet, novelist, and dramatist of the Romantic movement. Hugo is considered to be one of the greatest and best-known French writers. Outside France, his most famous works are the novels Les Misérables, 1862, and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, 1831. 

Today we visited Victor Hugo's  house in Guernsey.  It was elaborately decorated in a gregarious mix of colours and styles of tapestries, wood carvings and ceramic tiles.

Our French guide spoke in heavily accented English, which meant that our understanding of his explanations was somewhat limited.
Hugo had two daughters, which we heard as 'doctors' and for a while were suitably impressed that he had two very clever daughters!
The Dining Room was where he served mince to homeless children (that's what I heard, but I haven't a clue what really happened).
