With the help of the SatNav, we navigated to the town of Cheddar in Bristol, an hour and a half drive to the south west.
Although we doubted her, Siri SatNav directed us right into the village of Cheddar. Here is located Cheddar Gorge, home to limestone caves in which they mature locally produced cheddar cheese.
Kathy's Senior Card got us discounted admission that included a coffee and cake after the cave tour! 👍
We toured Gough's Cave in which Britain's oldest and most complete skeleton was discovered in 1903. Known as Cheddar Man, the skeleton is 10,000 years old!
In the cave are racks of Cheddar cheese, maturing in the constant 11°C temperature .
